Bio
Lowell Morris is a music composer and flute teacher based in Powell River, BC, Canada,
who composes for film, television, multimedia, concerts, outdoor events,
theatre, dance, and CDs for commercial release.
Morris attended art school before entering the field of music. He graduated
in 1987 from Vancouver's renowned Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design,
specializing in audio and performance art. He then worked in theatre sound
design and audio-based performance art.
He then attended Simon Fraser University in Vancouver to obtain a music
composition degree (1997). He has been working as a music composer since then.
Morris's work involves such diverse projects as being music composer for
Vancouver's incredibly popular Stanley Park Halloween Ghost Train, composing
music for the preview of the television series "Stargate: Atlantis",
and being music dierctor, composer and performer at Vancouver's largest
Earth Day celebration.
He owns and operates a full audio post-production and music-composing
studio. His most recent CD release is the highly successful Sounds &
Music for Halloween.
Morris is a teacher of Pro Tools software, the film industry standard
in audio post production. He is also a flute instructor, and performer.
(He also plays clarinet, guitar, ukulele, harmonica, tin whistle, and
recorder, and sings baritone.) Between projects, he works on experimental
electroacoustic music and audio pieces.
His outside interests include sea kayaking Canada's west coast, playing
ice hockey, and wilderness travel. He is an avid backcountry skier, winter
camper, and summer hiker in British Columbia's mountains.
